Announcement: Online multiplayer support!


Hey guys. I'm bringing the multiplayer feature to KeyCap Fight! You can do a quick online match or a private match with your friends. Hope you enjoy it!


Q: How could I set my room number?
A: Please use your cursor to click on the room number key cap.

Q: What about latency?
A: That depends on Photon, the multiplayer networking. But there is still some room for optimization. Like location prediction. But I don't want to spend too much time optimizing for action games. Maybe I'll try to make some turn-based games instead of action games next time.

Q: Why it takes so long to make it?

A: I actually finished the multiplayer feature within a week of gamejam. But I didn't release it because I couldn't come up with a good design for the main menu. I realized that the longer I delayed the update the less likely it would be released, so I put the finishing touches on it.

Q: Why did you want to develop multiplayer feature? (And most likely no one will play this game)
A: My friends told me I should make KeyCap Fight a multiplayer game. Then I did some research and found Photon. Turn out making multiplayer feature is easier than I thought, so I built an adapter to solve the task of online matching. The main goal of this attempt became making a minimal framework that I could quickly reuse in future games.

Q: Will you update the game in the future?
A: I am not sure. I'll probably fix bugs and improve the user experience in the near future. I have a list of features I'd like to make. But only something technically or visually interesting is what motivates me to make this game. I always challenge myself to make stuff in the cheapest way possible. But right now I don't have any ideas in my head.

When I stuck with this project, I wasn't lazy. I learned a lot in that time. Hopefully I'll be able to show off in the future. Anyway, enjoy this update!
